Factions thing

Can someone explain factions to my parents?

Factions is basically survival where you must build your own base, create a faction, gather resources, fight others, and your mission is to reign, and take over all the other factions.

In factions you can destroy other bases, you can steal others stuff, and you are allowed to trick people and kill them.

Basically a full on war, when there are different groups of people who participate.

You may create your own faction, but if you like someone else can invite you to their faction.

I can explain factions very easily.

Hello I am a moderator of the server, factions is one of our many game types we offer on the server. Creative, minigames, and skyblock are the other ones.

Factions is very much like survival, when a player enters a single player world they are given basic stone tools and a gigantic world around them. The player must now mine, explore and basically survive on their own by finding food, minerals and other resources to create armor, weapons, buildings and an overall place to live and create very impressive things.

Redstone is found underground much like diamonds for armor, lapis for enchanting said armor and weaponry. Redstone is unique because it gives players a way to create mechanisms that operate much like a simple circuit in a miniature system. Players can create automatic lighting, automatic potion brewers, create hidden doors, or traps for monsters that come out at night or players invading your territory. Depending on what you want to create one can spend several hours getting it correct.

Factions is a bit different than survival since it is a PVP enabled world. (Player vs player), you still have to mine and survive but factions allows you to create a group with some friends and claim land. Claimed land allows only people of that faction/group to build. Other players that are not apart of your group/faction you create will not be able to build on your land.

Now that is the basic principles of the plugin. Claim land, and create a home with a group of friends. But that isnt what factions is entirely about. The main appeal of factions is fighting, raiding, and becoming more powerful than other enemy factions. How do we do this?

Well first you find an area that is hard to get to, or very far away from spawn. That way you can build and create a faction without getting found by other players and raided. You claim the land, and with your friends you set up a basic area to live and avoid monsters during night periods of the game, where many mobs spawn and try to attack you.

The plugin allows you to sell resources for money, where you can buy things from the shop or donator shop. It also has an auction system where players can aution an item for a certain amount of money. (This auction is server wide and shown to all players.)

after you set up a base, or an area you want your faction to be, you try to get as many resources as possible and try to invite trust worthy people, to grow larger and larger. Once you are ready, you start to raid and attack other factions. You can just take their stuff when they are offline... or kill other players and decrease their faction power and claim over their territory. There are a lot of options when it comes to raiding.

Youre probably wondering how to raid, since you claim territory how could other players possibly get into a base in the first place? Really easily actually. Players create objects called TNT cannons. If your base isnt properly made. (Meaning players can blow it up from a distance away/lack of obsidian layers) Or if your base is open and allows players to ender pearl in (a form of teleportation which involves an item that you throw and you teleport where the item lands) You are at risk of being raided. Players can open chests in enemy inventory and destroy a base in claimed territory. Players can also teleport into your base via the nether if you arent careful. There are many ways to be raided!

The largest faction generally has the most power, but its also at risk, since players tend to turn on eachother and raid their own bases. You can come more powerful by taking everything from other factions, creating pvp potions, farming for a high amount of money, creating god apples, getting many spawns and MUCH more.

The world is large and the resources arent going to reset, so over time it will get harder and harder for players to have top gear and items. Which is what makes raiding necessary. ^Then again the world is very HUGE on our server and no one has really felt this drain in resources yet. Perhaps the map will be reset before anyone does, but that has not been decided yet.

This is basically what factions is.^

Parents like to have as much information as possible. If you give them something vague they are going to have a vague idea. Which is why I want to get as much information as possible down.

Yea I completely understand. I just found it ironic when you said that you would explain factions "very easily" and then have a 10-paragraph description XD

Thx Liv. My mom is a little unsteady about all the killing and war. I have left AE due to misunderstanding with close CubeBuilders & real life friends.

No problem. Please keep in mind that "killing" in the game shows no blood and is very E for everyone. Even upon death you can always teleport back to a spawn point with the consequence of losing your items.

Some allies are friendly too, and most of the time there is very little conflict.
